Guatecompras is the official bidding portal of the Government of Guatemala, acting as the primary digital marketplace for public procurement. It serves as a cornerstone for transparency and competitiveness in public purchasing processes. With thousands of registered suppliers and contracting entities, it is currently the most important and largest e-commerce and public procurement platform in the country. However, despite its scale, the platform had limited accessibility on mobile devices, restricting many users—especially small suppliers in remote areas—from participating efficiently.

Despite Guatecompras being a robust system, it lacked a dedicated mobile application, which presented significant limitations for accessibility. State providers, particularly those without regular access to desktop computers, found it difficult to monitor bidding opportunities, submit proposals, and stay informed in real time. This gap resulted in delayed participation, missed opportunities, and an overall user experience that did not align with the demands of a modern, mobile-first world. There was a clear need to bring the platform closer to its users, wherever they might be, with an intuitive and streamlined mobile interface.

We developed a cross-platform mobile application for iOS and Android, fully integrated with the Guatecompras system. This app enables registered suppliers to easily navigate available bidding opportunities, submit proposals, receive real-time notifications, and manage their profiles—all from their mobile devices. The design focuses on intuitive navigation, simple login procedures, and seamless access to the most relevant features of the web platform. By eliminating technical barriers and optimizing the mobile experience, the solution empowers more suppliers to engage in the public procurement process and contributes to greater transparency and efficiency in government purchasing.
